Figma download

So, you've decided to try out Figma, and now you're wondering: what's the best way to install? Whether you're using Mac, Windows, or Linux, it's important to choose the correct method for Figma download and installation.

With so much information out there, it can be overwhelming at first. So, we've compiled everything you need to know about how to get up-and-running without the hassle.

Choose either the browser-based Figma or the desktop application

You aren't limited in your options — and who doesn't like a little variety? To get started, you've got two options: Browser-based or desktop application.

So, you can either use it in your favorite browser (I like Chrome, but you anc use any browser) or, if you prefer, you can download the desktop application instead.

The vast majority of people I've spoken to prefer using the browser version, and I love this method, too.

It really comes down to your personal preference: I love the browser-based version of Figma, and it also syncs your work back in if you ever lose your internet connection, which is nice.

👉 Easiest method: Browser-based version

If you don't know where to start, I'd recommend this method. It is, hands down, the fastest way to get started.

So, to give the browser-based version a try, all you need to do is signup for an account on their site here. As of the time of this post, they have a "free" plan which allows you a few free projects to try out.

Once you create a free account on the official site, it allows you to start designing right away once you are logged in.

Desktop download for Windows

Do you use Windows and prefer the desktop version, so that you can have an application running natively on your computer or laptop (no internet connection needed)?

If so, you can check out their official Windows desktop application right here.

Download for Mac

Looking to run the software as an application on your Mac? Want to be able to work offline seamlessly, without worrying about a browser?

You can find their Mac version right here.

Desktop download for Linux

Obsessed with Linux? While they don't have a native Linux app, most users choose to run it in their browser by using the browser-based version of the tool.

However, there is an unofficial Linux desktop version that you can check out here.

But, ultimately, I'd recommend simply using the official browser-based version if you want access to the latest updates.

Mobile apps for iOS & Android

Optionally, if you prefer mobile for designing and/or collaboration, here are the available options:

Official iOS mobile app

Official Android mobile app

Conclusion

Overall, I'd recommend using the browser-based version for simplicity — and the fact that you can easily use it on any device. It keeps things super simple.

Best of luck with your designs!
